Toppa Da Mornin To Ya!

"Patrick" my little bear is dying to show you the inside of the old Stix, Baer & Fuller hat box. He thinks the box is his, he loves green and St. Patrick's Day, but first let me tell you how I came upon this hat box. My nephew used to work summers with me so he knows the kind of stuff I like. An aunt of a friend of his was getting ready to move and was having a big yard sale. He had been to the house to help with some stuff, and in the basement there was all kinds of holiday items all sorted and arranged on shelves. DJ told the lady that his Aunt Pam would like this stuff and she said well, bring her over. Talk about JACKPOT! I got some of the most incredible Christmas, Halloween, Easter and all of this St. Patrick's Day. The St. Patricks Day was all in this green hat box!

An Irish chenille couple--again in mint condition. Crepe paper skirt, wood pipe etc. They are about 8 inches tall. I've never seen these before for this holiday.

Fiddler's Inn Antique Show--Rain-Rain-Go Away!

We just returned from Nashville---what a fun but wet time! There was rain, sleet and snow, but more importantly---there were customers in the mood to buy! I didn't get rich from the show, I still can't retire, but it was worth it and we look forward to the next one. Several repeat customers that we had just seen at the Music Valley Show. Here is a look at the weather on opening morning!


This is my Gary--known that morning as the Weather God--checking out the situation!

This is a shot of the outside parking space where all of the furniture and larger items were. The white flecks in the picture are snowflakes! We only had one day of uncovered merchandise. It's hard to sell when it's covered up, so we sold our smalls from inside the hotel room! It was cozy in there.

Now for the inside. This was all set up on 2 6 foot tables. A lot of stuff!

The little boxes on the wooden stacker were old herb boxes from a pharmacy. They all went home with one collector. Many of them still had the herbs inside.

I love red and white and this part of the display looked pretty. Several Old Judge Coffee Jars with one having the original label.

All in all, we had a wonderful time. Scott Jenkins and his crew went out of there way to be helpfull to everyone. Including the goodie bag! Tricia and Ellen from The Red Door Antiques in Eddyville Kentucky stopped by. Chatted with Scarlett Scales, and had dinner and too much fun with our friends Doug and Ty Wyant from Cassapolis Michigan. They were set up at Heart of Country. Ty had started a blog " Wyant Antiques" so be sure to check it out. They specialize in Sports, Folk Art, Americana and anything of interest! Our friends Tina and Dennis came down from home and stayed a couple of nights, so of course more dinner and fun!

Always a Surprise in the Box

No wonder it takes me so long to get my smalls ready for a show. We're getting ready to head back to Nashville this coming week for The Fiddler's Inn Antique Show. I have dozens of big boxes full of small boxes and there are always treasures inside of the little boxes. I have gathered some wonderful advertising tins, spice boxes, and store display pieces. When I ran across this Gelatin Capsule box--probably from the 40's or 50's I liked the green color. It will look good in a spring display. But inside was the treat!



Many years ago, someone decided to store old beads inside of the box. What made these special enough to be stored in a box? Hmmm..... On the top there was a roughly made necklace of small wooden beads. Very colorful and on the biggest, thickest string you can imagine. Maybe a project for a kid?

On the bottom of the box there was this heavy,clunky--chain bracelet with 2

coin holders. Maybe for lunch money!

And then my favorite. A long strand of bright glass beads. It is

very heavy and could be remade into something wonderful.

All of this crammed into one little box. Now you see why it takes me so long!
I'd better get back to work! We get the truck Monday morning and as usual,

Nashville Was So Good To Us-We're Headed There Again!

We sure had a great time in Nashville at the Music Valley Antique Show. We met alot of new people. Carrell from Country Charisma--what a lovely gal! Always good to see Scarlet Scales. We were in Franklin on Monday but missed her. Also had dinner with Tricia and Jerry and their friend Ellen--(and now mine!) from the Red Door Antique Shop in Eddyville, Kentucky. That was great. I hope to stop in their shop on our way back to Nashville next week.

Well, as usual our booth was overflowing so we got to use the blank wall across the aisle. Are those old parlor chairs awesome or what! They sold!! YIPPEE!



These cubby holes were filled with small treasures...many of which I had the pleasure of selling.
This old store display piece really comes in handy. I'll show closeups in another post.


This was one end of the booth where Gary likes his small, folky pieces. A lot to look at! On the right side of the picture are framed vintage Easter postcards. A nice gift for anyone to pickup.

I love this big architectural piece hanging above the green painted jelly cupboard. And if you remember the "Do Not Spit Sign" from an earlier post---well it has a new home! It got alot of attention and laughs!

OLD DRUG STORE COUNTER--Before & After

Well, it's down to hours before we load for Nashville, I'm still not ready with my small stuff and Gary just finished the old drugstore counter. It is a beauty. It is 6 feet long and 2 feet deep. I will use it as my checkout at the show! The last picture shows how it looked before Gary refurbished it. Is he good or what!

A very useable piece, great for a kitchen too.

The back was gone so it has been replaced with pine tongue and groove.

Looks a little different?? It needed alot of TLC and it got it!!!

I'm Sweating the SMALL STUFF!

Well, it's time for Nashville. We get the rental truck in a couple of hours, and just as usual, I'm not ready. I have lots of small stuff to get ready and I always back myself into a corner! We divide our booth into 2 parts. Gary has larger items --furniture, cupboards, signs etc and I have a small section that I setup like a boutique or general store. My end is not always country, but fun stuff that people seem to enjoy. Gary got the drug store counter finished so I will use that for my checkout--BUT--it is FOR SALE!!! I'm showing a few pictures, not even a drop in the bucket of what I am taking. Hope to see all of you there!

I just came across some of the most beautiful glass beads and can't resist taking them. I have a great dress form that I think I'll put them on.
