You Can't Beat Vintage Holiday Stuff!

I love the old Gurley candles! I don't know how many I have had and sold over the years. I remember at home, when the Christmas Carolers appeared on top of the television, the holiday season was here! They looked like the pilgrims in the picture below.

Framed Vintage Postcards. Colorful!
We had a great time at sissy Lori's tonight. Sissy Gay made grilled cheese, Lori made clam chowder and I made this apple stuff that Gary wanted. It is made with raw apples, and a creamy peanut butter mixture that I made with Splenda, then sprinkled with pecans. I wanted a red velvet cake but he reminded me that we didn't need all of that sugar. Next time, it's cake! My sister's are very good cooks, so that made up for me! A simple supper and soooogood!
Better go for now. I'm digging out Christmas stuff and lots of other great stuff to redo my shop so I need an early start in the morning.
Until next time,
Pam

Tomorrow is FAMILY NIGHT!

It's time for another Family Night. We all live rather close so it's easy to get together--when we all have an open night! There will be the guys as well, and our folks. We just eat, laugh, and be together. This would be a picture of me and my two sisters. This was taken before my brother was born. That would be me IN THE MIDDLE! Did anyone else have those little bangs? This decorative stone at Lori's house kind of says it all. I'm making dessert--no idea what yet.
Better go for now.
Until next time,
Pam

Textiles--Ahhh, the Feel of Cotton

Is it the color? or the feel? or the look? Anyway you look at it, who can resist touching! This quilt, all nicely folded is a beautiful calico with deep red being it's main color. No fading. Just beautiful. Just another thing that stopped me dead in my tracks at Nashville.

I love this rack of clothes and cloth all nicely pressed, ready to take home. All cotton.

I have a weakness for cloth dolls, something about the innocent face, but it's the cotton dress that makes me weak at the knees!

Another shot of great children's cotton clothing.

This mantel is a shot of early cloth dolls in the booth of Kay Puchstein at the Music Valley Show in Nashville. I would love to have all of them.

And who can resist turkey red embroidery work. These were actually in my booth!
Better go for now, just wanted to share these pictures. I'm getting in gear for the holidays at my shop and working on a new display for all of my textiles.!
Until next time,
Pam

I'll Take That One & That One & That One!

It doesn't matter what I'm doing, a display of bakelite always stops me dead in my tracks!
This was a three tiered rack of bangle bracelets--I wanted them all. I think it's the deep reds, butterscotch and cheddar colors that I love the most. Sometimes they are polka dotted, or striped, but mostly solid. I love them all!
Until next time,
Pam

Thanksgiving Season is Officially Here!

There's nothing like the wonderful colors of gourds and pumpkins! These next 2 pictures are from the Nashville show. But....today is the day that I really feel like Thanksgiving is approaching. Or should I say---Thanksgiving Dinner. My sisters and niece and I emailed back and forth today planning the menu! We'll change our mind a million times before then, but we are all getting that holiday feeling! You don't find bittersweet around my home town, so seeing this was a treat!
Better go for now. Gary just came home from the auction and he says it's "Show & Tell" time!
Until next time,
Pam

Don't Just Take an Exit--Go Into Downtown!

I don't know how many times we have exited off of the interstate and pick a place to stop without going into the downtown area. We have made the trip to Nashville a million times and we exit off of I24 at Clarksville. There is absolutely any restaurant you want to pick from, but....a couple of years ago we couldn't make up our mind and the road led us into the downtown of Clarksville. It is beautiful. I love old buildings, the brick, the windows--all of it. We ran across the Blackhorse Pub & Brewery---which has now become one of our favorite stops! They offer every kind of food from tuna salad to wonderful steaks to pizza--you name it! And they really draw the people! It is huge and can accomodate alot of people. What a treasure! And when we are done, there are great shops, and we are less than one hour from Nashville!

It doesn't look real big, but when you go in this main door, it spreads to other buildings.
You've got to try it!
Sorry about the reflection of our rental truck!
Nice deep red brick--great windows.
Fancy Parks & recreation Building!
Look at the archway!
A shot looking down the street.
We like to try different places, trouble is--the timing has to be right and this time we were backed up ----2 1/2 hours in road construction so we didn't get to stop. Running late as usual for me! Better go for now,
Until Next Time,
Pam

We Love Nashville!

Well, we've been to Nashville and are back home! The 5 hour drive seems like a piece of cake compared to Texas! We had an oblong 24' booth, so Gary and I like to have a wall divider between my small stuff and his furniture, folk art, signs and so forth. It seems to work out well for us.
This is a shot of Gary's end of the booth. He has been outdoing himself with display!
Is that not the most awesome blue painted table. It sold after being rubbed and touched and slobbered over a million times!

The section of windmill created alot of interest, but it is quite big and would take a big wall!

We sold almost all of the picture frames that we had. Gary loves the early ones.

This is a side shot of my small stuff. Holiday collectibles and country smalls. Sold lots of turkeys.

The old tins and the dolls were all snuggled together. Quite cozy!
This is a front shot of my side. The screen on the left started out filled with framed vintage turkey postcards (minus the stack that I knocked off and broke during setup!)
An angle from the end of the booth!
I always have my work counter so I can wrap and bag the sales!
We had a good show, we're not able to retire from it!!! but that's okay. We jabbered the whole way home about what to do for the next time. In the meantime, I will be getting the shop ready for the holidays.
We saw alot of friends from all over the country---part of the fun of the show business! I'll be posting more pictures from the show, not just from my booth, but others that caught my eye! We appreciate every single sale and love repeat customers. It's always good to see customers from show to show.
Until next time,
Pam
