Calgon Take Me Away--A Whole New Meaning!

Remember the commercial "Calgon Take Me Away"? I thought of it instantly when I saw this heavy old bathtub up in the air at Leftovers in Brenham, Texas. The "take me away" thought is passing through my mind today--along with "Think Spring", and "NO MORE SNOW".
We already have 11 inches on the ground, another dusting last night, and 2-4 more expected today. My days of "Yippee---no school" are long over. My thoughts are more like---getting the shop ready for customers, what about parking after the snow plow makes mounds everywhere on the street, hope no one falls on the sidewalk, the cost of snow removal, hope the car starts, should I leave the shop closed, you know all of the negative! I'm already fretting about loading the truck for Nashville, the roads to get there and we don't do that for 3 weeks! I think I need to take time to remember the beauty of the white snow, the peace and calm look of snowflakes, and just realize that I really have know control over it! I'll try that today!
Until next time,
Pam

I'm a Great Aunt!

Let me introduce you to the newest member of our family. Haylee Marie Cummins was born on December 8th, a nice big girl. Okay--I am her Great Aunt, my sister Gay is grandma, and her son Bobby (my nephew) is the new dad--can't forget Krystal the new mommy. Are you confused? Ha, anyway--Haylee is the first baby in our family since daddy Bobby who is 27 now. And--she's a GIRL!!!! We passed her around at Christmas like a sack of potatoes. You can only imagine how much joy she has brought all of us. I love her!
She stopped in for a visit at the shop, and finally, I had my camera with me. Couldn't resist putting these children's blocks around her! She's looking at them and it's as if she is saying "What other stupid things are you going to do today?"

After all that, she was wore out! Talk about a sweet bundle of joy. Can you tell that I just love her! I think I heard her say my name, not sure about that, but I think so, after all she is 6 weeks old! Time to start talking don't you think!

I'm sure you'll be seeing much more of Haylee. I hope she likes antiques, I'll put her to work helping me sort buttons, and iron linens, and dressing antique dolls. Maybe I'd better let her grow a little more, but wouldn't she be sweet modeling antique christening gowns!

Until next time,

Pam

You Gotta Play to Win!

I thought of this game wheel when watching the news tonight about the $350 million dollar lottery. I guess in some ways life would be simpler with that much money. But in a lot of ways it would become a nightmare. I won't know--I didn't buy a ticket. I'm holding out for the Reader's Digest Sweepstakes! Until then, I'll just keep living my normal simple life!
Here are some pictures of simple things that make me smile. They are pictures from the Nashville show we did in the fall.

This sign sold right away. It had a great worn look and the red letters were fab! There's nothing simple about my honey holding the sign! Well, maybe he is simple--it doesn't take much to make him happy. What can I say!

The next two pictures are wonderful collections of bakelite. Not mine! I wish though. Maybe that's what I could spend the money on!

I really don't have to worry about it, again, I didn't buy a ticket. And after watching the news tonight and seeing what some of the stupid comments about "How Would You Spend the Money", I'm glad I wasn't interviewed! I doubt if alot of people would understand why we'd take our millions and buy worn out, roughed up signs and boxes and benches and heavy plastic jewelry and anything else we felt like! Hope your new year is off to a great start.

Until next time,

Pam
