Great Pick in St. Charles!

We went on a great pick on Friday and as promised--I am showing pictures of the great Historic Downtown St. Charles MO. I'll show pictures of what we picked later! The buildings in St. Charles speak for themselves! I love them all. Many have been there for years. St. Charles is only about 30 minutes across the river from us. A big tourist attraction outside St. Louis.

This particular shop has been in business for years. It is in the old blacksmith shop.

Gary loves the old blue shutters on this building. He wants to live there!

This old building houses the restaurant we love to eat at. It's quiet, cozy and the food is awesome. The salad bar is like an old church potluck! Yum. We actually had a date night and could sit and talk, and dream and just have fun! We forget that we don't have to work ALL THE TIME!

I'll show you more pictures soon!

Until next time,

Pam

Early Cloth Dolls and Bears

We're never too old to enjoy precious bears and dolls! These are some old pictures from other dealers displays that caught my eyes. I love the character faces on the bears! I wonder what they were thinking?

These worn out souls were someone's play toy. Lucky for us now, they are still precious. The doll on the right looks really mad! Maybe she doesn't like to have her picture taken.

Sweet family!

A pair of sisters or perhaps Mammy momma and daughter!

Love the old mohair bears.

I wish I had all of these. Thought I'd share the fun!

We're headed to St. Charles, MO on a buying trip later today. I hope to be able to hit Old Historic Main Street when we're done. The shops will probably be closed, but not the restaurants! Yippee for me! I'll try to snap pictures-you know I love old historic buildings and homes.

Until next time,

Pam

Pincushions--4-H Projects!

What happens when I can't make up my mind which one I like best??? I buy the whole collection! All of these padded chairs are pincushions--handmade as a 4-H project in the 1940's. I love the fabric, shapes and sizes of all of them. The seat lifts up for your thread and other sewing items. Very sweet! I have a huge button collection and other fabrics and sewing items that I am accumulating to make a big display! And...it will be big--more than 1,000 buttons-another collection I bought! Then of course loose buttons, needle packs etc. The picture below of how the dealer's booth looked with the chairs--see why I loved it!

I also bought a collection of velvet handmade pincushions. This picture is of the red ones, but there are some pastel ones too. Love the way they look and feel.

The next two pictures are just close-up shots of the chairs.

When I get the display figured out, I'll post pictures. Keep checking! Love it all!

Until next time,

Pam

You Think It's A Washtub Don't You?

What you think is a washtub is a great vintage cooler for your outdoor picnics! Holds lot's of ice and bottles! If you are real lucky--they are on wheels! Several of these headed to the shop. Gotta clean them up a bit first.
Until next time,
Pam

Quilts Are Selling!

Some things sell in spurts. We have been moving quilts and quilt tops again. I love them! They are great on a bed, in a stack or on the wall. The fun part will be looking to replenish my supply. The slowest mover always seems to be "Pink". Don't know why, pink is pretty, but I guess if it's going into a room where a guy is--they don't want pink! I'll let you know when I find more.

Contact me if you have any quilts or quilt tops for sale. Maybe we can strike a deal!

Until next time,

Pam

It's HOT HOT HOT Here!

Well the air conditioners and fans are blowing but it's still hot! I feel for anyone that is setting up at outside markets right now. Hopefully sales will be hot and that makes it worthwhile. The shop is going to be closed for July 4th, but I think Gary and I will spend the day inside the shop with the doors locked and spruce up a little. KMOV Channel 4 News is headed to Alton to do a segment on "Antiquing" so I want everything perfect--or at least close to perfect! I will be meeting with Virginia Kerr and her crew for taping! I've had a horrible summer cold for the last two weeks--so--I'm glad my fever blisters are healed! Now if I can figure out a way to lose 100 pounds by Friday! Oh well, it is what it is! Have a safe and happy holiday.

Until next time,

Pam
