Maybe a White Christmas?

No snow yet, but maybe some for Christmas!  I know it's pretty, but I'd be just as happy looking at these fun Snowmen!  I wished I would have kept these vintage shakers.  Sold them right away!
A couple of trees covered with snowmen.

Blue is the color to mix in with Snowmen.
Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season.
Until next time,
Pam

One-Of-A-Kind Yardstick Folk Art!

Gary has been busy creating many new and useful items using yardsticks.  The carrier below would be precious with herbs in it!

Lots of chalkboards, some with yardstick borders, some with window frames.
He really likes to find old benches that still have a touch of color.  He covers the damaged tops and they look like new.
A carrier sitting on a rocker, resting on a small side table.
A perfect gift for teachers--assorted sizes of pencil boxes.
Why not think about giving a gift that is useable and ONE OF A KIND!  Come in to the shop and see what else we have.  The Alton Antique District is THE place to shop!
Until next time,
Pam

What Is It About This Tree!

I don't know how many of these ceramic trees we have sold so far this year!  Each one is different, and pretty, but what is making them so hot this year!

We have one customer that has 179 and keeps them in one room all year round.  Yesterday, we had a couple that has at least 50 and didn't want to share with the kids, so bought one for their daughter for a gift!  It was white, medium sized with pastel butterflies on it.  Cute and they loved it.  I know we sold 3 more yesterday.  We usually sell alot of aluminum trees, and have been getting requests, but between me and the dealers in my shop--we have sold them and can't seem to come up with more.  Supply and demand--isn't that the way this world works!
Until next time,
Pam

Between Seasons!

It's almost time for Thanksgiving?  Where has this year gone?  Had to do a little in between window--Halloween is out, but not Christmas yet!  I love the colors of fall!

This is a table setting in the window that will do for now.  Nothing fancy, just a fall table setting.
I've been busy with estate sales and neglected my blog!  Now I have a couple more in the works.  It's feast or famine.  I'll take the feast anytime.
Until next time,
Pam

Love the Small Stuff!

Who doesn't like finding small stuff? It's all starting to run together--where did it come from? You open a box and inside that box are more boxes--smaller in size. Each box is like a Christmas surprise. Here are a few things I found--or I should say I found sometime, somewhere and thought "I must have these"!

Love this handmade pincushion. It's really worn, but could you toss it? I can't.

I love the "red" color of the case of this Kodak timer. Will look great with vintage clocks--I have dozens of them to get cleaned up for the shop.

The tiny buttons in this old bottle are not perfectly round. They look like early carved buttons. Love them!

Who doesn't love an old stack of postcards? Takes me forever to get anything done because I have to stop and look at each one!

This box has an unfinished family of dolls. Really sweet! Dad, Mommy and kid!

Better go for now,

Until next time,

Pam

Great Pick in St. Charles!

We went on a great pick on Friday and as promised--I am showing pictures of the great Historic Downtown St. Charles MO. I'll show pictures of what we picked later! The buildings in St. Charles speak for themselves! I love them all. Many have been there for years. St. Charles is only about 30 minutes across the river from us. A big tourist attraction outside St. Louis.

This particular shop has been in business for years. It is in the old blacksmith shop.

Gary loves the old blue shutters on this building. He wants to live there!

This old building houses the restaurant we love to eat at. It's quiet, cozy and the food is awesome. The salad bar is like an old church potluck! Yum. We actually had a date night and could sit and talk, and dream and just have fun! We forget that we don't have to work ALL THE TIME!

I'll show you more pictures soon!

Until next time,

Pam

Early Cloth Dolls and Bears

We're never too old to enjoy precious bears and dolls! These are some old pictures from other dealers displays that caught my eyes. I love the character faces on the bears! I wonder what they were thinking?

These worn out souls were someone's play toy. Lucky for us now, they are still precious. The doll on the right looks really mad! Maybe she doesn't like to have her picture taken.

Sweet family!

A pair of sisters or perhaps Mammy momma and daughter!

Love the old mohair bears.

I wish I had all of these. Thought I'd share the fun!

We're headed to St. Charles, MO on a buying trip later today. I hope to be able to hit Old Historic Main Street when we're done. The shops will probably be closed, but not the restaurants! Yippee for me! I'll try to snap pictures-you know I love old historic buildings and homes.

Until next time,

Pam

Pincushions--4-H Projects!

What happens when I can't make up my mind which one I like best??? I buy the whole collection! All of these padded chairs are pincushions--handmade as a 4-H project in the 1940's. I love the fabric, shapes and sizes of all of them. The seat lifts up for your thread and other sewing items. Very sweet! I have a huge button collection and other fabrics and sewing items that I am accumulating to make a big display! And...it will be big--more than 1,000 buttons-another collection I bought! Then of course loose buttons, needle packs etc. The picture below of how the dealer's booth looked with the chairs--see why I loved it!

I also bought a collection of velvet handmade pincushions. This picture is of the red ones, but there are some pastel ones too. Love the way they look and feel.

The next two pictures are just close-up shots of the chairs.

When I get the display figured out, I'll post pictures. Keep checking! Love it all!

Until next time,

Pam

You Think It's A Washtub Don't You?

What you think is a washtub is a great vintage cooler for your outdoor picnics! Holds lot's of ice and bottles! If you are real lucky--they are on wheels! Several of these headed to the shop. Gotta clean them up a bit first.
Until next time,
Pam

Quilts Are Selling!

Some things sell in spurts. We have been moving quilts and quilt tops again. I love them! They are great on a bed, in a stack or on the wall. The fun part will be looking to replenish my supply. The slowest mover always seems to be "Pink". Don't know why, pink is pretty, but I guess if it's going into a room where a guy is--they don't want pink! I'll let you know when I find more.

Contact me if you have any quilts or quilt tops for sale. Maybe we can strike a deal!

Until next time,

Pam

It's HOT HOT HOT Here!

Well the air conditioners and fans are blowing but it's still hot! I feel for anyone that is setting up at outside markets right now. Hopefully sales will be hot and that makes it worthwhile. The shop is going to be closed for July 4th, but I think Gary and I will spend the day inside the shop with the doors locked and spruce up a little. KMOV Channel 4 News is headed to Alton to do a segment on "Antiquing" so I want everything perfect--or at least close to perfect! I will be meeting with Virginia Kerr and her crew for taping! I've had a horrible summer cold for the last two weeks--so--I'm glad my fever blisters are healed! Now if I can figure out a way to lose 100 pounds by Friday! Oh well, it is what it is! Have a safe and happy holiday.

Until next time,

Pam

Ready for the Cardinals 2012 Season!

I've been working on my Junk Jewelry--trying to keep up with orders...and decided to make a timeless treasure! These pendants are definitely for the Cardinal fans! I'm going to make more of them because the fans in Cardinal nation are the best! Just wanted to share a quick picture of them!
Until next time,
Pam

Window Shopping--Black and White

I've been busy trying to redo the shop including the storefront windows. Seems like I've come up with alot of black, white wire and silver--sooo that's what I put in the window. As I was trying to think of what to do, one of our dealers--Yvonne walked in with the "very fun" lamp and silver-gray chair. That did it--black and white and silver is going in the window. The chair turns and is probably from a beauty parlor. The lamp has 3 shades--all black metal with 2 being alike and one different. Never seen one like this. The shots are from the side door because of the glare when shooting through the window.

The next 2 shots are taken from outside looking in so there IS a glare!

The other small end of the window will be done today. It'll probably be green. I need to get more shelving inside for the millions of small items. We've been hanging some pegboard and getting ready to rearrange. Come in and see us!

Until next time,

Pam

Nashville Friends and Neighbors

After setting up our own booth, we like to walk around and look at the other booths. It's always great to see what everyone else has done to create the most beautiful displays. This by no means is all of the dealers but some of my favorites. After working all day, my knees give out--so I don't usually make it all over! These are some pictures of my friends--others of neighbors that would be friends if we had time to visit! If I know whose booth is shown-I'll list the name under the picture. Hope you enjoy!

This is Tricia LeTempt of The Red Door Antiques in Kentucky. Her displays are always excellent and different at every show.
More Tricia...

More Tricia...

More Tricia...loved the Valentine theme!

More Tricia....what a soothing smell!

Not sure who this is but loved the wonderful quilts.

Don't know this one either, but a great visual display of hooked rug.

I think this was Worden Select Objects.

David Drummond--should have taken more of his booth--I have loved him for years!

Charles and Judy Warren--Stonecrop Antiques in Virginia--always top notch--and great buddies of ours! It's always fun to meet them for lunch and dinner!

More Stonecrop.....

More Stonecrop.....love the colors!

Under $200 Booth--Wish I would have bought these!
This booth is made up of items from all of the dealers. Always fun!

More Under $200

Don't know this one--but loved it!

I think this was Kitty Saylors booth...not positive

More Kitty.....

I know what you're thinking---I sould have written names down so I would remember ..well...if I would have---I probably wouldn't be able to find the note! As you can see, each booth has it's own personality. That's what makes this show so great. If you didn't come, hope you got the feeling of being there....and there's always next year! I have pictures of Opryland for another post. It is so very pretty!

Until next time,

Pam
