Nashville Friends and Neighbors

After setting up our own booth, we like to walk around and look at the other booths. It's always great to see what everyone else has done to create the most beautiful displays. This by no means is all of the dealers but some of my favorites. After working all day, my knees give out--so I don't usually make it all over! These are some pictures of my friends--others of neighbors that would be friends if we had time to visit! If I know whose booth is shown-I'll list the name under the picture. Hope you enjoy!

I know what you're thinking---I sould have written names down so I would remember ..well...if I would have---I probably wouldn't be able to find the note! As you can see, each booth has it's own personality. That's what makes this show so great. If you didn't come, hope you got the feeling of being there....and there's always next year! I have pictures of Opryland for another post. It is so very pretty!

Heart of Country--Nashville

We're back from Nashville. We really had a great show. I'm showing pictures of my booth--it's a big corner booth and I couldn't get an overall shot because of it's size, so there are many many pictures! Thanks to everyone that came and shopped. The show was rather steady with business. We were really happy with the show. I still can't retire (ha-ha) but we came home with a much lighter load. Hope you enjoy the pictures---I never can decide whether it's easier reading captions over or under the pictures---so I'm doing it under them!

Everything you can see in this picture sold. I'm not kidding!

This terrific table did not sell--but will be great in the shop. I'd love to keep it.


The entire display of fishing lures sold including the board it was on!

Sold most of the holiday--including the harvest table it was on.

Sold everything on the mustard cupboard including the cupboard. Also sold the green cupboard on the left and the dogs on top of it!

The white shelving unit was full of toys--sold a lot of them too!

The hanging cabinet came home with us. It'll sell!

Sold the table the crock and blue hand blown glasses.

Didn't sell many linens, but sold the crock bowl.

This was my check out counter. I need a counter to wrap all of this small stuff! The neon sign is very awesome. It is from an ice cream business here in Alton. "Shearburns is in hot pink and ice cream in neon green. Didn't sell but I know it will probably to someone that likes local Alton memorabilia.

Sold lots of button (on the left) and all of the children's chairs--I think we took 15 of them!

This is just some of the buttons. I could sell all of these and replace them 2 or 3 more times. Will be great in the shop.

Sold the barrels and most of the Halloween. The old washstand covered in yardsticks came home with us.

Sold several of the "Garden Art" pieces. Gary has stands made for them and we sell them with the stands. He's done this for years with whirligigs.

Sold all of this.

Sold some wood pulleys, the pair of chalk dogs and the cast iron dog doorstop! Oh yeah--and the cabinet they were on!

Loved the look of the old fishing lures--sold all of it.

A side shot of work in progress. You can see the banana box at the bottom. I think I had 37 of them full! That's a lot of smalls.

Headin South--Heart of Country in Nashville

Well...we are almost loaded and ready to head to Nashville. The weather here in Alton is perfect today and looks like the travel will be fine! I have so many smalls ready to go...crockery, linens, the most fabulous quilt, signs, a huge button collection, pincushions, early hand blown glasses in the most beautiful blue, great furniture pieces--lots of small useful tables, my junk brooches and junk bracelets, whirligigs---as you can see by the assortment there really is something for everyone. As always, we'll be the big corner booth! Hope to see you there. I'll take lots of pictures and share when I get home.

Alton's Historic Mansions by Candlelight

Alton, Illinois is an old historic river town located about 20 miles across the Mississippi River from St. Louis. Back in the day the city was full of industry--the box board, the glass works, the foundries and so on. It is a city rich in history and even though the industries are long gone, these fabulous mansions that were built by the industry leaders remain. When I leave my shop I go a few blocks away to the locally owned grocery store that sits in the middle of these homes. Then when leaving a trip down 12Th street and onto Henry is just lined with mansion after mansion. These are a few of my favorites.

I love this one.

This one is actually the Beall Mansion (Bed and Breakfast).

This house has been totally renovated and sits on an entire block. HUGE!!!

I think the house shown below is one of the oldest in Alton.

On Christmas Eve the entire neighborhood is lined with luminaries. It is beautiful. I love the candles in all of the windows. There are many more homes, this is just a tease! Hope you are having a holiday filled with fun and laughter!

A Little Something Red for Christmas

Is this vintage RED sofa and chair not the best! I know the history of it--it was my mom and dad's living room furniture for years. I intended to use it for display in the window for Christmas, but after Gary got it out of their basement, he decided that it was the last time he was moving it! Too heavy to maneuver it in the window so I set up a display like an apartment.

It is like new, purchased in Benton Illinois in late 1957 and delivered to Roxana, Illinois in 1958. Mom always had a cover on it so us 4 kids wouldn't get it dirty! The couch actually flattens into a bed--and we all know how heavy a hide-a-bed is! Lot's of interest in this outfit! And it can be yours! Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season!

It's Just About TIME for Christmas

Christmas is right around the corner and the shop is full of antique clocks and silver! Thought I'd show a few pictures! This Shiny Brite ornament is bigger than normal--about 4 1/2 inches diameter!

How in the world did I accumulate so many clocks????One at a time I guess.

Several sets of flatware and lots of nice serving pieces.

The little bottles on the left are what I'm calling "Money Bottles". They are decorated inside with a replica of a vintage postcard so you can't see the gift. Perfect for smalls or money! Then save the bottle for your shelf! The framed art in the middle is again a nice glittery replica of a postcard set in a collage with old recipes. Can't beat it as a hostess gift. The small bags are filled with chunks of glycerin soap---another great hostess gift.

Couldn't resist showing these yummy "Cake Ball Pops" that my new young friend Rachel made. I love food that is good to taste and PRETTY! Don't you wish you had one right now?
